II.
SCRIPTURAL STUDY.

A.
THE FEEDING AND THE FRAGMENTS.   6:1-13
vs.11

vs.6

Ex.33:12-34:3
1.
With the witnesses of the two (Philip & Andrew), Jesus has established the disparity in the natural between the need (5000+) and the available supply (5 loaves & 2 fishes). This was done to show that what Jesus Himself knew was about to happen could not be explained in human terms, thus revealing the connection between God the Creator and Christ the Supplier. (Our space is limited, but consider here why Jesus, who created all things from nothing with such energy that produced more than what tiny man is capable of seeing, much less comprehending, always used fragments or minute substances to produce more, whether it was water to wine, food to feed 5000, dirt and spittle to generate what had been missing from birth, etc. Imagine, if you will, what might have been the case had He not, keeping in the mind the results of the energy released in that instant of creation. Look what happens when man just divides in half a tiny element of an atom invisible to the human eye! As the Apostle says, Who has been His counselor, that He knows so much of the physics of His natural world? Jesus really does know what He is doing, doesn't He, and He knows how to shield us within His creative Power. He is awesome! He must really be who men and Himself declared Him to be, and still is, mustn't He? Just a thought! Do with it as you will.)

Lk.7:22-23
2.
However, the end result of this unexplainable generative miracle of nature, this Creator walking among us performed, was to elicit faith in Him for Eternal Life. This will be the same lesson of the delay in raising Lazarus (11:39,40). He alone is in control of His creation, and should be accepted as such by all men -- Faith in Him! What more does He need to do to prove Himself to the man He has created? Nothing! It is left to man to examine what He has already done, and if that is not sufficient to the skeptical mind, then it will be his own loss. How sad for some that they still look for more when the evidence of His works identified for the Baptist's belief are still irrefutable (and these were before Lazarus' and His own Resurrection), although 2000 years of unbelieving men have tried!

3.
Enough, we must continue, or our lesson will run long. Only, let His works be examined with an open mind (if you are one who still questions), putting aside any biases developed from other sources of skeptical teachings. It is for your own benefit: for whether accepted or not, the fact remains, He is the One; and in time you will meet Him for an examination of your continued dis-beliefs. Just the Proof of His Presence will melt away all arguments, and He will finally have to be acknowledged, but unfortunately too late for personal benefit.
vs.11
4.
THE FEEDING.
a.
"Jesus Took The Loaves"
Andrew did not understand how so little could be of any benefit to so many, yet He expectantly brought it to Jesus anyway -- else why bother?
TRUTH:
JESUS WILL ALWAYS GRACIOUSLY RECEIVE FROM ANYONE THEIR HUMBLE OFFERING WHEN BROUGHT TO HIM, HOWEVER INSUFFICIENT TO OTHERS IT MAY SEEM.
b.
"He Distributed To The Disciples"
The problem in today's society is that too few agents are willing to and make themselves available for God's acts of mercy to be shown to others. Are you merciful?
TRUTH:
GOD, ALMOST ALWAYS, USES OTHERS AS AGENTS IN ACTS OF MERCY AND KINDNESS TO THOSE IN NEED.
vs.12a
5.
THE FILLING.
"When They Were Filled"

TRUTH:
GOD WILL ALWAYS MULTIPLY AS NEEDED SO THAT:

Lk.9:17a

a.
None will go lacking, and
b.
All will be equally filled (fully satisfied).
This is an open window into the state of rewards and happiness of each individual's position in Heaven. All will be equally satisfied, some having eaten more than others (additional rewards), some less than others. All were filled, and no one went lacking, or wanting more. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you this lesson here of the Spiritual Feeding.
vs.12b,13
6.
THE FRAGMENTS.
"Gather Up The Fragments . . . That Nothing Be Lost."
a.
Much has been said by many explaining the significance of the leftover 12 baskets:
(1)
To show there was plenty for all,
(2)
To feed the 12 disciples afterwards, and
(3)
To teach that nothing be wasted that is sanctified, etc.
But these are all related to the natural.

b.
Consider, however, a spiritual lesson here:
(1)
Jesus has fed those who have come now to His Table, but someone not now present will someday return -- the Gathering at the End, the Remnant of the 12 nations of Israel, and
(2)
He will then feed them as we are fed of Him now. He has not forgotten His first Chosen. Study Romans 11.

[When interpreting scripture, it is always uplifting to see their natural applications that are typically abundant in any given text; however, the deeper truths lie beneath the surface of the material, deep within the stream of the Revelation of His Word inspired by His Spirit to those men who wrote it in human symbols upon perishable paper. In almost all cases, there are spiritual meanings which cry out for release to one who will allow His Spirit to translate what He has previously written into a message only the new creature in Christ can see and understand. In order for this to occur, it is obvious then the more one knows of His Word, the more the Spirit has to work with within the one He wants this meaning to be seen. In other words, how can you know what He is so desperately trying to say to you today, if you have not already read what He has written yesterday? And if we had begun this lifelong quest at the moment of birth (if that were possible), its riches would be as effervescent at our end, as though we had just begun -- still bubbling to the surface, releasing each's wonderful tiny explosion of insight to be joyfully breathed into the spirit. But a caution here: do not try to spiritualize every jot and tittle of His word and force a spiritual meaning where one is not intended. Many have tried, and the highway of men's reason is littered with askew interpretations (and in some cases their own sanity), not to mention the wrecked lives of those they may have influenced. Mt.23:15]
