Verdict Coming Soon On Whether Posting Bible Verses Online
Is A CRIMINAL OFFENSE!
ADAM2.ORG - Updated September, 2023 — In 2019 a case was filed against a Finnish legislator, Päivi Räsänen, for posting a portion of the Bible book Romans, chapter 1 verses 24-27, along with her thoughts regarding the selection. Apparently, authorities were threatened by such an act and brought her up on charges. Following this outrageous action sixteen members of our own congress released a letter to the U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, Rashad Hussain, and U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Douglas Hickey, to oppose the "egregious and harassing" by Finnish authorities of a Christian member of their own parliament. Her crime? Apparently it was merely posting this portion of Romans along with asking the leadership of her church as to why on earth they would sponsor the Helsinki Pride parade. Some months ago she was acquitted in court of the charges. But this was too much for her persecutors who are determined to see she is punished. Immediately they appealed the decision. A verdict is expected on this appeal sometime in the coming weeks. For those who call themselves Christian who don't think we, the church, have entered once again into the dark era of persecution I ask that you take a close look at the culture's hostility towards those of faith not only in other countries but right here at home–in America. For those who have lived more than a couple of decades compare this time we are in with those just a few decades ago when the church was revered. Local pastors' counsel carried as much weight, or more, as any leader within the community. What the church had to say on matters of the day was highly regarded. But today our churches' pastors and any of faith are threatened into silence who dare to speak truth, Biblical truth, to power–and its only going to worsen, much worse. It is now safe to say America is no longer a Christian nation.
