After 40 years, in the 40th year, 11th month, first day, now in the Transjordan region,
poised to possess the land, Moses recapitulates God's promises and their history to
this new generation: rulers, judges, spies, and sentence to the wilderness.

Continues history from wilderness wanderings and Sinai. Instructions on nations.
(Edom given to Esau; Moab and Ammon given to Lot; not to be encountered.) Heshbon
(Amorites) given up; all to be destroyed because of their total depravity.

Therefore, they are to keep theirs, loving Him totally and exclusively, obeying all His commandments.

Requirements for success in future battles. Blessing and curse given. (See Cpts.27,28.)

Foreign altars, idols, and so on, to be destroyed. God to choose central place of worship (after all land is taken).
Foreign-type offerings and altar use forbidden. Burnt offerings. Levites remembered. Blood forbidden.
Condemnation of nations repeated because of the extent of their degradation, even human sacrifices offered in worship.
Warning given.

False prophets warned against those who entice away. (Test for love.) Death penalty for false prophets.
Family and friends warned against enticement into idolatry. Death by stoning. Whole cities of idolaters
to be slain by sword. (Total, with nothing taken!)

Asceticism denounced. Clean/unclean meats recounted. Tithes of increase. Sell for money if residence afar.
Levites, fatherless, widows, and stranger's provisions from third year tithes. (Conditions for national
and personal economic prosperity.)

15.

Sabbatical year (Year of release, 7th). Lending/borrowing laws. Provisions for poor forever present.
Hebrew servants. (Egypt to be remembered.) Firstlings.

Three feasts restated: (1) Passover; (2) Pentecost; (3) Tabernacles. Must give (as able) to participate.
Judges, officers. Bribery forbidden. Tree planting near altar forbidden. Idols forbidden.

Concerning wives, virgins, false accusations. Adultery, rape, premarital sex. Incest forbidden.
