I.
Rest (satisfaction) for man's spirit is found only in living unto God and not acquiring knowledge, wisdom, or wealth.
II.
God is no respecter of persons. He hates evil in anyone.
III.
Two men are contrasted:

A.  A man with a sorrowful heart. (The sorrowful is never satisfied, never finding rest.)

B.  A man with a joyful heart. (The joyful is content in God's portion to him, finding rest for his soul.)
IV.
Ecclesiastes does not say "eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die" in the Epicurean way, but, "enjoy the portion God has given from your labor today, and let God worry about tomorrow's."
V.
The world set in man's heart hides God from him.
VI.
Man is born to suffer; and so his days are spent more in darkness than light.
VII.
The fool's heart is in his mouth; and his riches are his many words.
VIII.
Every kind of man that will ever live has already lived; and God knows each one.
IX.
There is nothing new under the sun; everything is cyclical.
X.
One generation is forgotten by the next.
XI.
There is strength in numbers.
XII.
Death is common to all.
XIII.
