Abraham goes to Negev; settles in Kadesh and Shur. Then to Gerar.

Abraham covenants at well of Beersheba with king Abimelech for Abimelech's posterity. Plants tamarisk tree and calls on God. Remains in Philistia many days.

(1872 B.C.?) Abraham sent by God to Moriah for testing. (Sacrifice of Isaac.) Receives blessing again.

Returns with Isaac and company to Beersheba. Informed of brother Nahor's posterity.

(1857 B.C.?) Abraham, old, sends chief servant to city of Nahor (Haran in Mesopotamia) for wife for Isaac. Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel, granddaughter of Nahor (½ brother of Abraham), chosen.
