You have heard it said that "an image is worth a thousand words." Often this is the case.
Besides the message of the "thousand words" an image conveys when viewed, it also produces a multitude of other affects upon us. Some vividly evoke fond memories. Others, emotions, emotions such as sadness, loneliness, forlorn, disappointment, satisfaction, happiness and many more.
With this image, the Image of the Christ Child, I do not want you to think of those things when you gaze upon it. Please, instead, I want you to think along this line.
We've all looked upon the images of a Rorschach Test which is designed to tell us a lot about ourselves. Well, in a way, this is the ultimate of "Rorschach Tests".
It is good we take stock of ourselves from time to time. I can think of no better time than now, this Christmas season, to do just that. So, with that said, when you look upon this image, what are the first and lingering thoughts that come to your mind? These will speak volumes as to who you are right now. Are you satisfied with the thoughts that are tellingly provoked?
If you feel the image is uplifting, then glory in it! If you feel a sense of hatred and angst, well, that says a lot, doesn't it?; I will pray for you. If, however, you feel a sense of uneasiness within, I encourage you to consider this.
