As mentioned in our study, two major Truths emerge from John 5:
|
|
1.
|
SALVATION IS BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH.
This is illustrated by Jesus' compassion and mercy bestowed upon the impotent man who had done nothing to
deserve his physical restoration and his forgiveness of sin. God will have mercy upon whom He will have mercy.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Jer.9:24
|
2.
|
JESUS IS LORD OVER ALL, AND INTO HIS HAND IS GIVEN ALL AUTHORITY AND JUDGMENT.
As the Father's judgment is just and with mercy, so too will be the Son's. He will not abuse His Power!
Although it should go without saying, it still must be said: Our God is a loving God, full of mercy
and compassion. He will not turn away His lovingkindness to anyone who desires Him in complete sincerity.

John will next demonstrate the rich depth and scope of this Power and Authority of Jesus to go beyond
the individual, showing that it includes the multitude of all humanity. There are no limits to His
ability to care for His creation, in both the natural and spirit worlds. As His Father did with His
chosen in the wilderness during the Exodus, His compassion will care for the needy in hopes that they
will recognize Him as the Source of all their earthly and heavenly needs. And as typical, some will,
but sadly, some will not. It will be an interesting demonstration.
