ADAM2.ORG - Updated September 12, 2022 — The First Of America's Government To Issue Such A Call This was not without significance! It is not impossible nor without precedent that a nation's revival in repentance of sin and spiritual renewal begin first among its people and ignite its flames within the halls of government. Most of us are aware of the spiritual revolution—The Great Awakening—that shook the soul of America in its early formative years and continued near a decade (AD 1734-43). We were quickly losing our way with the new found freedoms and prosperity in settling a new world. This did not go without notice by a young Northampton, Massachusetts pastor who had not had more than six or so new converts in his first months of hard labor. After a woman of loose company was converted Jonathan Edwards feared that would be the last for a season. It was not. To his delight hundreds within his small town of only 1,100 were won to Christ over the next six months. Quickly, like a moth drawn to a flame news spread from town to town and others joined in the new awakening—men of the likes of George Whitfield. Edwards and Whitfield put their lasting stamp on the soul of America in her desperate hour of need. And the rest, as they say, is history. Since those early days of the colonies and The Great Awakening, America has had its ups and downs spiritually, much like the Israelites of old when they settled within the new promised land. Of note was the Second Great Awakening in the early years of the 19th century followed by The Great Prayer Meeting Revival that some say added over 2,000,000 new converts and gave us great revivalists and pulpiteers such as James McGready and Charles Finney. Typically, these "great awakenings" followed great upheavals in American life. One has only to examine the spiritual records following our bloody Civil War and the Urban Awakening led by the renowned Dwight L. Moody and others. These were followed by the Great Welsh Revival that came to our shores at the turn of the 20th century and swept up and down America's eastern seaboard. Likely, everyone has heard of the giant, Billy Sunday, to whom over 1,000,000 are attributed for their salvation. Moving forward, one cannot forget the despair and Great Depression America fell into post WWI that eventually took a second world war to break the bonds of its death grip on our existence. Two figures emerged amid this turmoil and rebuilding of this great nation, Bill Bright and Billy Graham. Millions were drawn to Christianity and the church through theirs and many others' efforts. During and following these periods of renewal of America's soul great efforts by the church and new community groups were applied to the social ills of the American fabric and its local communities. It was in these awakening times God's favor was experienced in great abundance among the people. The Christian spirit and its Biblical work ethic produced an unprecedented industrial revolution that paved the way for millions to be lifted from poverty into an independent self-sufficient life, producing the great "middle class" and the "American Dream" that have lasted until today. But we have forgotten this Biblical principle, this cause and effect. Now, Joe Biden is on record saying he will end the "middle class" and its suburbs during his "Presidency", deeming it white supremacist and racist. From this prosperity, decadence and apathy toward our spiritual health eventually set in and great social struggles emerged for America's soul and have continued since. Just when we think we cannot be shocked more from the ungodliness of our dark under-belly, we are hit with yet another ungodly cry. Collectively, these cries have brought us to our knees. We look within every quarter of our society for a ray of hope only to have our hopes dashed time and again. America struggles to regain her footing but the recent chains ungodly tyrants have shackled us with are beyond our human collective ability to break. If they are to be broken it will take another parousia, a Divine assistance as in previous times. However, unlike in our past history of great awakenings it is my opinion that that a new awakening, if we are to have another, must begin at the top. It must ignite among our current leaders, or new God-fearing leaders must rise up. In either case, God must take the reins of those who lead us if we are to be led out of this current cataclysmic mess. For the first time, to my knowledge, do I hear an official call to prayer and repentance from a concerned corner of those in government. It may not be a loud call but this is new. This is necessary. I am reminded of an Old Testament time in the life of the tiny nation of Israel when God touched the heart of its leaders and His blessings and renewal began to flow downward from its leaders to the people. Take a moment and read of one account found in the Old Testament book, Habakkuk, consisting of only 3 chapters. For another, read the workings and consequences of the origin and spirit of renewal found in the Jewish restoration from exile in Babylon found in Haggai. Pay close attention to chapter 2 and the downward direction in which the renewal in the hearts of the Israelites flowed. The voice coming from Arizona's 3rd District Republicans and their official resolution calling a nation to repentance, prayer and renewal of our moral and spiritual compass, beginning with our leaders at the national level all the way down to the local, has been long-awaited. Let us hope and pray, as with the flames of our bygone history, the call will grow, spread and have a restorative effect on the fabric of our nation. Let us end the shrill childish voice of the small ungodly minority who have been successful to date redefining what's right and what's wrong, what's good and what's evil, turning every thing on its head. Who in their right mind would ever have thought that in America pedophilia, pornography, castration, homosexuality, drag queens and sexual abuse and reorientation would be taught and promoted in our public classrooms at every level not only by its teachers and admin but also by a large majority of parents. Unthinkable! It is time. It is time to end this madness! It's time sane adults rise to the occasion and put an end to the ungodly reign of adult juveniles, their sophomoric mentality and their global puppet masters who are driving America to ruin. Begin now, but mark the dates requested on your calendars. Then call your own representatives and senators, imploring them to repent and follow the lead of Arizona.
