In scripture, Jesus is called many things: (1) the Rose of Sharon, (2) the Lily of the Valley, (3) the Bright and Morning Star, etc.,
but here He is seen to be The Ladder of Jacob. This Rose from the other side, this Star that outshines them all, this Lily that blooms
Eternally, is the Gate through which angels journey to and fro in the Earth, and is the Means by which heaven and earth are spanned and
man himself can once again have access with the Eternal Creator and Heavenly Father. Jesus really is the Alpha and Omega to man, complete
in Himself, the "I AM": He is the Logos through which all creation exists; He is the Light
by which all things are made visible; He is the Lamb upon whose Head our hands must be laid for our sins to
be taken away; and He is the Ladder upon which man must ascend to gain eternal access from Earth's temporal stay.
This is John's message of Chapter 1.

He will turn now in Chapter 2 to introduce Jesus at work again
in His Creation of which He has full charge. To those who witness His first work, and ourselves who, today, read of it,
it will appear as miraculous; but to Jesus, it comes quite naturally. Do not read over John's designation of this
event on the "third day," for with it carries many indications and applications. To begin, study Gen.1:9-13;
Jn.2:19; 4:13-17;
Mk.14:23 with respect to His first miracle.
