In His Presence

Preliminary Thoughts   Preliminary Thoughts
  1. Realize that through temporal lips of clay pass eternal words of life when speaking His word back to Him in prayer. You are but a vessel through which the eternal living waters pass, to be changed yourself by their touch, but also to allow them to flow to others, catching them up as well in their heavenward channel.
  2. There comes a point in time when you no longer simply offer up the words of your mind from your mouth, but He at once joins them and reaches down and extracts them from you, passing them through the depths of your heart as He lifts them to Him, each now clothed in His Power to accomplish their purpose. With the struggle of flesh and spirit at last over, you listen as they soar past your ear on heavenly wings on their upward journey—and your soul is silenced, at rest again in its heavenly ascent, His Holy Spirit now in control, now speaking for you. And sometimes you are amazed at the words you hear yourself uttering, coming from deep within. You delight in the operation of His intercession!
  3. As His holy visitation enters your words, you will sense the rush of them now borne upon His heavenly wings, transporting your soul into His presence. A sense of the Divine will overshadow. His glory is all around. Your eye will all but see what your soul senses. You will want to look up, and on occasion, when you dare do, when all of earth has grown dim, you will catch a glimpse of a vision clearly shown—His will to you, now made known!
  4. How meaningful are and deep do your words part the heavenlies and penetrate the very heart of God? Words born premature from the mind without ever passing through the heart for meaning where they are met by the Spirit for power, born without wings, unable to light from your lips, only to fall discarded at your feet. Or worse still, defenseless, to be snatched up in flight by the Spoiler, like a multitude of creatures born so small in the sea with only a few to survive. A prayer born of the heart and not the head is one capable of reaching and touching the compassion of Christ. A heart then filled with His love and for fellowman is a heart in union with the Saviour. And compassion thus born for fellowman produces such passion for your Lord that no earthly ecstasy can compare, only illustrate. The mention of His name, Jesus, causes your heart to flutter, and a heavenly desirable burn begins to build within you. You must cry out. You must reach out! For He alone can satisfy your soul's longing and fulfill your deepest need. What enchantment as you enter into His Presence, encircled within His arms! Held by His strong hand, caressed by His loving other, He is your Husband, you His Bride (Church)! The ecstasy of an hour with Him. The bliss of earth's marital bedroom, only a precursor to the state of the soul in His presence for all eternity—Heavenly! (Immerse yourself in The Song of Solomon for further insight here, being careful of carnal thoughts.)
  5. The spirit senses the familiar when God's presence enters the earthly. It is like an old friend returned from a long trip -- to be entreated with anticipation, honor, respect, and awe. To learn of what has transpired since last you met. To know clearly where He has been since last you've seen Him and where next he goes, if you are to follow.
  6. Connected to the eternal while in service to the temporal is nothing less than divine! All thought of self should be lost while in prayer and service to Him for others, decreasing all the while as He increases in you each passing day.
  7. Climbing the heavenly rungs of prayer not only draws the soul to the Light from above, but if only for a moment in time, it abates the spirit's longing to return to its Creator, until it someday may remain there to return here no more.
